Skin to Stone
Documentary | 2005 | 40' | 4:3

The green mountains were trying to escape the fire that consumed the earth. In the stuffy air, a breeze led us to a new task: explore the washing place of the Panasqueira Mines, which had been abandoned for 15 years, and to try get to know the miners reality. A desert village expected us, the sharp eyes of one or two locals were following our steps. Down 1470 feet into the dark we went on to meet the miners. We heard stories and danced with them. A new job flourished beyond the skin.

Project developed as part of an artistic residency at the "Lugar à Dança" Festival in Fundão.
