I always try to find out the meaning of a name. The names people give to us without having ever seen us seem to be so inadequate and at the same time so fair.

I look for Carlos Paredes, a guitar-player born in Coimbra who devoted himself to the portuguese guitar, thus following the family’s tradition.

I try to find in Carlos Peredes the body of that incognito which is the musical identity. Carlos Peredes is the mastership of the unforgettable sincerity, free from effects. The art of Carlos Paredes will be always beyond the matter.
